My role as the Lead UX Researcher in an enterprise-scale electronic health records environment requires a strategic approach on many levels.
I use a problem-oriented approach to define design direction of a notoriously complex system. But a similarly strategic approach is required to navigate a team through the complexity of collaborative relationships when responsibilities overlap across roles.
In addition to leading a team of 4 researchers, I am also a researcher. A large part of my role as a researcher is to improve a research process mindset, and demonstrate the value of bringing research earlier in the product development cycle. I have had a lot of fun and successes in this capacity!
